Consultations

includes:

  • Oral and written language consultation

  • An in-depth written synthesis of previous testing, past/current reading instruction, and observation of student performance in literacy

  • Specific recommendations about literacy instruction including frequency, content, methods of delivery, and curriculum pacing and direction

  • Optional participation at an IEP meeting to discuss findings from the consultation

  • Optional on-going consultation to school-based educators of children not making effective gains in oral and/or written language

 
 

Instruction

Includes:

  • Multi-sensory, systematic teaching of reading, spelling and oral language

  • Informal assessment of reading skills to inform instruction

  • Two or three 60 min individualized sessions per week

  • Monthly or bimonthly informal assessments to monitor progress

  • Reading material to practice at home between sessions

  • Instruction that is within the student's zone of proximal development to help him/her develop literacy skills with a feeling of success and confidence
